Jun-29-2010 By Mark T King

If you are looking for a hotel in Birmingham that is different from other hotels, then go to the Paragon Hotel. Built in 1903, the Paragon Hotel is a classic and magnificent example of Victorian Gothic architecture. The red bricked faade of this hotel is awe inspiring at the very first glance. Anyone who loves to admire and explore old architecture will simply fall in lovely with this magnificent example of Victorian Gothic architecture which is listed as a historic grade II building. The Paragon Hotel is a landmark building in Birmingham and reminds one of the splendour of the Victorian era.

Just like any well-known building, the Paragon Hotel has a rich history. It was previously referred to as the Chamberlain Hotel. It was a Rowton House, initially made in 1903 by the architect, Harry Bell Measures. The architect, who is behind this structure, has built several similar buildings in London.

A close view of the building reveals its huge size. This Rowton house was once a hostel for the men in trouble. It provided them shelter during the bad times due to unemployment and debt. It served as a safe haven during the tough times. The building accommodated them till they got work. Thus, it helped them to gain the appropriate employment. In addition to Rowton house, Lord Rowton built a chain of such hostels across London.

Save Money On A Cruise

Jun-28-2010 By Erin Walker

The salty ocean breeze blows through your hair, the clear blue water sparkles below, and the warm sun shines down on your back. Cruise ships. What breathtaking experiences. What expensive experiences. If you want to go on vacation but you’re on a tight budget, a cruise ship could be your cheapest option, if you know the insider tricks.

“How could a cruise possibly be a cheap way to travel?” you ask. It depends on where you’re going and what you want to do. When you pay for a cruise you pay for transportation, lodging, and food. When you stay at a hotel you pay only for lodging. By the time you factor in the additional cost of transportation and food, in many cases, a cruise actually comes out cheaper. If you plan on seeing several different places, such as scattered islands or parts of Europe, a cruise is the way to go.

Cruise and stay holidays in the Mediterranean offer the ultimate holiday. Once you’ve unpacked your baggage, you’re all set to do nothing but have a good time! Enjoy top quality on-board service as you sail through the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean.

There is no doubt that this is the ultimate way to enjoy a holiday. You can get to see all the interesting places and experience various cultures without having to unpack at each destination. Simply get off the ship when it docks at each port of call and explore the local attractions.

When you’re done, hop back onto the ship and enjoy some pampering after a tiring day of sight-seeing. Most holiday cruises are at their peak during the months from May to October when the weather is good. This is not the case with Mediterranean cruises - they run all year round.

This affords people the opportunity to take a Mediterranean cruise in the off-season holiday periods. Prices are often cheaper at these times and many cruise operators offer discount packages. With fewer people, you will be able to enjoy sight-seeing a lot more.

Boat Insurance

Jun-27-2010 By John Kurtz

One of the last things that you may think about when purchasing a boat is the fact that you’ll need to obtain boat insurance. Quite like car insurance, there are several things to consider before deciding on which company to go with. You can also receive discounts if your boat contains the necessary safety equipment. This is something to keep in mind, especially if you’ve not yet purchased your boat.

Make sure that your boat has all the necessary safety features installed such as a fire extinguisher, emergency equipment, and various other security features. Having all of this equipment installed will help to lower your monthly premium. Be sure to let the insurance agent know about all of the features you have on your boat. You may have to mention this yourself, as many agents will not, especially since most are trained to make sure everyone pays top-dollar for their boat insurance.

Another thing that will influence how much your monthly premium will be is the age of your boat. If your boat is fairly new, you may end up having to pay a bit more per month. The difference in price in accordance to how new your boat is should not be too drastic. One of the reasons why insurance is lower for boats that are not so new is because as time progresses, boats tend to depreciate in value.

Ways To Stay On A Reasonable Pre-Cruise Budget

Jun-26-2010 By Lucia Pattinson

So you are planning on going on a cruise but want to save money? Remember that if you are going to go to the trouble to find an inexpensive cruise, be sure that pre-cruise prep doesn’t tack on a whole bunch of expenses. Here are tips to help you control these costs:

Go with what you’ve got.

You already have all of the clothing you need for your cruise. Unless you have nothing that fits, or all of your summer clothing is threadbare, you don’t need to buy anything new. Wear your regular bathing suits, shorts, and summer dress clothing that you would be wearing at home. You are just going to relax and unwind. You aren’t going to interview for a job with a fashion magazine.

Same for luggage, use what you have. Nobody cares what your luggage looks like. Brand new sexy leather luggage isn’t going to impress anybody. You’re on a boat. Just go with a casual duffle or regular bag. You’ll look less like you are trying too hard this way too.

Hide your plastic and bring cash.

Packing Strategies That Work When Travelling.

Jun-25-2010 By Georgie Scott

When travelling it is of the upmost importance to pack correctly. Forward planning is best and based on my experience I will be giving you some valuable tips.Organise yourself so as to avoid taking excess baggage. Use strong secure luggage of the hard back kind and with a strap to secure plus luggage tags that are closed face. Indispensable items can be placed in your carry on bag in case of loss.

Before you leave home scan all important documents and keep them in your email box. This will be of help if you lose them as you can contact the embassy with the scanned copies in order to file for new ones Separate your valuables such as cash, travellers cheques, and credit cards by keeping them in different bags or pockets.

Use small transparent containers to pack toiletries. They can either be repacked in smaller bottles or why not buy the travel sizes that are available in most pharmacies and supermarkets. The smart way of packing is to pack the lighter items at the bottom and the heavier ones on the top as your bag will feel lighter.Place your soiled clothes at the bottom also. Bring along some polythene bags for your toiletries to avoid leakage and also for clothes in need of washing. The zip lock bags are perfect for this.

Ways To Keep A Reasonable Pre-Cruise Budget

While it is good to investigate cruise deals if you are trying to save some cash, it is just as important to look for ways to cut costs in your trip planning. Here are some suggestions that may help you save some money before you even start your cruise.

Rule number one is to take what you have with you.

You don’t have to get a new wardrobe before you start packing, and the outfits that you wore last summer are just fine for your cruise. Remember the cruise is not going to be a fashion show, rather a time to relax and enjoy yourself. Bringing your flowered shirts and last years bathing suit is perfectly acceptable.

The same rule goes for your baggage also. People are not going to be staring at your suitcase as you stroll down to your state room, so just pack your clothes into whatever you have at home, and save the money from not buying the matching suitcase set and use for something that matters.

Stash the credit cards and bring out the cash.

If you are taking time and energy to search for the best cruise deals in order to save some money, it is equally important to be cost effective while you are making your pre trip arrangements. Here are some ideas to help you save money while you get ready for your cruise.

Start out by just bringing what you have with you.

You don’t need to go on a shopping spree before you go on your cruise, and the clothes that you wore last year will do just fine for your trip. Unless you plan on modeling the latest fashion on deck, go and relax and have a good time, and don’t feel bad about bringing last years shorts.
