Amanusa Resort: A Sancturary in Bali

Amanusa resort promises a tranquil place to relax and unwind and its location could not be more suited to that. The hotel is lovingly placed between the tropical greenery of Bali on one side, and the hypnotically blue of the Indian Ocean on the other.

Amanusa draws upon several sources to create their magical setting: One is the Balinese tradition of spirituality in all things, the second is the physical beauty of the island, the third is the Balinese hospitality, and the final is western amenities.

Just a short drive from the Denpasar airport, the traveler is quickly absorbed into the relaxed pace and pampered lifestyle offered by the welcoming staff. The lovely town of Nusa Dua is a bike, walk, or chauffeur-drive away for guests who want to explore its flower lined boulevards, boutiques, restaurants and entertainments.

The hotel also has some well-known cures for stress on hand. Massage Therapists offer spa treatments and therapies in the privacy of the guests own suite. And a golf course beckons, located between the resort and the sea.

For dining, The Terrace restaurant makes the most of its beautiful setting and sea views. It offers Thai, Indonesian and Continental cuisine. There is an Italian Restaurant, and a casual outdoor dining option. The Beach Club provides breakfast, snacks and barbeques.

The white-sand beach is one of Bali’s best and is fringed by a coral reef that provides a safe lagoon for swimming and seasonal water sports.

The Beach Club is located on the beachfront of the Bali Golf and Country Club. The Club consists of nine bales, each with two sun loungers. Refreshments, light meals, showers and washrooms are provided.

Massage therapy is an important part of total wellness. The therapists at Amanusa combine traditional Balinese and Swedish massage with acupressure. Reiki massage and reflexology are available, as are beauty treatments. You can have your massage in your suite, at the Spa or at one of the Beach Club bale’. Yum.

Bali’s three golf courses are as diverse as the island itself. The Bali Golf and Country Club, named as one of Asia’s top five courses, is adjacent to Amanusa. Designed by Robin Nelson and Rodney Wright, the championship, 18-hole course enjoys a scenic, seaside setting. The Nirwana Bali Golf Club, is at the Tabanan Regency, on the island’s west coastabout an hour’s drive. Designed by Greg Norman, The Nirwana Bali Golf Club offers one of Asia’s most visually arresting settings, playing through rice paddies, tropical forest, gardens and creeks. The Bali Handara Kosaido Country Club is set inan extinct volcano and renown as one of the world’s most beautiful golf courses. The club is an hour-and-a-half from Amanusa. The course was designed by Peter Thomson and Graham Wolveridge. Amanusa offers guests complimentary use of its golf clubs.

Guests stay in thatched roof suites. Each suite has a four poster bed swathed in white fabric netting. Sunken baths with tropical plants dominate the huge bathroom. The walled gardens are very private and have an outdoor shower, draped in hanging flowers. The terrace has an inviting daybed with a canopy. You can dine privately in your courtyard if you like. Eight of the suites have their own private swimming pool.
