Choosing the Best Deductibles for Bike, RV, and Boat Insurance Policies
If you love recreation and vehicles, you have a bike or two, perhaps even an RV or snowmobile. If this is the case you also have insurance policies that may cover all your “toys”. With any insurance policy, you have to choose your deductibles, which is the amount you pay if you have a claim on your automobile. You have probably heard that you should increase your deductibles for a big savings, but that isn't always always right. Just make sure that when you go to get insurance quotes that you speak with the agent and have them explain all of your options.
1. Motorcycle Policies
If you're the owner of a bike, the cost of your policy is worked out similarly to how your car insurance is rated. The insurance company examines your claims history and driving history, the sort of auto and the cost to replace it, the chance of your area, and how probable your bicycle is a target for burglary.
If you're the owner of a more recent model bike that is customised and a top of the range machine, you are going to pay a greater premium. If you have a basic bike your insurance is likely to be lower.
